For the love of Matcha

Matcha Ice CubesI absolutely love Matcha, not only because of its numerous health benefits but also for its bitter creamy taste. It is delicious and complements many flavours really well. I like to add it to my food and drinks and I am always looking for new ways to incorporate it in my recipes. When I first discovered Matcha powder, I literally tried it in everything; from smoothies, to cupcakes, to ice cream,... to soup! My kids thought that I was gonna wake up looking like the Grinch one day. The only thing that bothered me was how much powder I was losing with every scoop and the amount of time I was spending every time I needed to make a cuppa.  I switched to the waste and mess-free matcha pods and it was the best decision I made. No more faffing around for ages trying to make a cup of tea in the morning, it is quick and easy. But it wasn’t as straightforward when it came to incorporating it into food. It was a challenge but I love challenges  especially when it comes to creating new recipes.

Here is the first of five adapted recipes that I will be sharing over the coming weeks. They are easy to try if you are a Matcha crazy like me and you have opted for the hassle-free pods too:

Matcha Ice Cubes

This is more of an alternative way rather than a recipe. Ice cubes are a must in the summer and flavoured ice cubes add that extra “Je ne sais quoi” to the drinks.

Add as many ice cubes as desired into a glass of water, juice, Gin or your favourite cocktail.

This is also a good way of reducing waste if you are a busy mum. How many times did you make yourself a cup of tea and you got interrupted after having a sip or two? You get back minutes later to find an undrinkable cold tea. Instead of pouring it down the sink, you can freeze it and use the cubes later to add flavour to your drink.
